May I ask a favor?

Read Time: ~5 minutes

Happy Sunday, Reader!

Today is Pentecost Sunday. The descent of the Holy Spirit.

The disciples were behind locked doors. Afraid. Uncertain. Not sure what came next.

And Jesus walked through the wall.

He didn't wait for them to feel ready. He didn't wait for the timing to be perfect. He simply appeared, breathed on them, and said…

"As the Father has sent me, so I send you."

That is still how He works.

Scripture of the Week

"As they prayed, the place where they were gathered shook, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and continued to speak the word of God with boldness."

— Acts 4:31

The Freedom Shift

May I ask a favor?

I wasn't planning to launch a YouTube channel this week.

I already have Heavenly Treasures Weekly, the newsletter I've been writing and a growing movement of engaged followers.

I'm in the middle of creating a mini-series of daily devotionals, Your Daily Bread, that will eventually become 365 episodes.

I am working with the Functional Brain Health Institute and the Wellness Company.

Most importantly, I have a ministry, my prayer life, my exercise routine and my family.

I went from my Jubilee year and taking a sabbatical last year, to 2026 which is shaping up to become my Miracle year.

God has plans for me. And this week, He reminded me:

"No one who lights a lamp conceals it with a vessel or sets it under a bed. He places it on a lampstand so that those who enter may see the light."

When I got this message, I knew it was about the YouTube channel that I had pushed to the back of the list.

My first inclination was to dismiss the idea. You can't be serious? I can't fit that into my life right now.

My life already feels like ADHD on steroids.

Where would the time come from? How do I add one more thing without dropping everything else? And, God, you know I am challenged with all these technology platforms.

And then the miracle happened.

In one of my early morning prayer sessions, I received a vision so clear and complete that it was as if God had rearranged my entire week for me…

…in a way that simplified everything and wove it all together like a tapestry.

It was like He added hours to my days.

Suddenly I saw how it was all going to happen seamlessly, without stress or filling up my calendar.

And once I saw it, I read this the very next morning…

"Look at the new thing I am going to do. It is already happening. Don't you see it? I will make a road in the desert and rivers in dry land." — Isaiah 43:19

I couldn't make this up if I tried.

God had already made a way. I just needed to follow His path.

So I did. This week I launched a new YouTube channel, not perfectly but with His grace.

It is called Seek the Spirit.

And there is a story behind that name.

Fifteen years ago, when I wanted to become a faith-based business coach, I chose Seek the Spirit as my business name. But then I hired a business coach who convinced me to change the name to The Freedom Shift.

Looking back, it made sense.

I wasn't yet ready for a Spirit-led life or business. I needed to deepen my own faith first. To build a real relationship with Jesus. To be filled with the Holy Spirit in a way I had not yet experienced.

I didn't know then that I was embarking on a 15 year journey, but it was good.

The Freedom Shift became a thriving livelihood. My spiritual life grew and deepened alongside it. But the two were on separate planes, spiritual life on one, business on the other.

Until this year…

And now, this week when we celebrate Pentecost, Seek the Spirit has been launched.

It has all come together.

Ministry, mission and work. Peace, prosperity and purpose. Faith, family and freedom.

The disciples were behind locked doors the night of the first Pentecost. Afraid. Uncertain. Wondering what came next.

Jesus walked through the wall and breathed on them.

"Receive the Holy Spirit. As the Father has sent me, so I send you."

He didn't wait for them to feel ready. He sent them anyway.

And this week, he sent me.

What God is calling me to do in this season is to offer spiritual direction to those who are already feeling called to something more.

Individuals seeking deeper peace, prosperity and purpose through Christ, who aren't sure yet how to get there.

Those who are ready to stop hiding their light under a bed.

For me, it's not just a YouTube channel. It's a movement led by faith to speak to those who are ready to do the same.

And I believe it is desperately needed in our world right now.

You can find me at Http://www.youtube.com/@SeektheSpiritwithJanet

And now, for that FAVOR...

I have zero subscribers, lol.

Would you be willing to watch the first episode? It's only 9 minutes long.

If you feel moved, maybe leave a comment and subscribe?

A Great Question for You

Reader, what is the Holy Spirit calling you to do with your life that you can no longer ignore? What light have you been keeping under a bed, waiting until the timing feels right?

Wellness Wisdom

The Science of Stillness

There is a reason Jesus so often withdrew to quiet places to pray.

He knew something that science is only now beginning to measure.

Stillness heals.

It is a biological, neurological and physical reality, proven over and over again in science.

I know it's true because of my own personal experience.

Before I learned and practiced daily prayer and meditation, I was taking medication for depression.

I stopped taking those medications 15 years ago, thank God.

There is a better, more natural way, taught to us by Jesus.

Prayer. Meditation. Gratitude. Trust.

Researchers have been studying the effects of prayer and meditation on the human body for decades now, and what they are finding is extraordinary.

Documented studies show that mindfulness practices like prayer and meditation bring about measurable changes in happiness and overall wellbeing. These practices not only help prevent depression, anxiety and stress, they are also being used to treat chronic pain, in some cases more effectively than medications, without the side effects.

It is quickly becoming a preferred form of treatment for physical, mental and emotional health.

A peer-reviewed study published in the journal Cureus found that regular meditation produces measurable changes in the brain visible on MRI scans, strengthening the prefrontal cortex, the region responsible for focus, clarity and good decisions, while reducing inflammatory markers throughout the body. The same study found improvements in blood pressure, blood sugar regulation and cholesterol levels in people who meditated consistently.

Dr. Andrew Newberg, a neuroscientist who has spent his career studying the effects of spiritual practice on the brain, found through SPECT scan research that prayer activates the same prefrontal cortex regions as meditation, producing measurable shifts in attention, self-regulation and emotional resilience.

A 2024 review found that people who pray regularly show lower levels of the inflammatory markers linked to chronic disease, better cardiovascular outcomes and stronger immune responses. Among older adults with chronic illness, regular spiritual practice predicted fewer hospital visits and faster recovery.

And perhaps most remarkably, a survey of U.S. physicians in 2024 found that 85 percent of doctors believe prayer and spirituality play a meaningful positive role in patient recovery, not as a replacement for medicine, but as a foundation that supports everything else.

What the researchers are describing, without always using the language, is what Christians have known for two thousand years.

We were made for communion with God.

And when we practice that communion daily, our whole being responds.

Body. Mind. Spirit. All of it.

This is why I am building something I want to tell you about.

It is called Your Daily Bread.

A free morning devotional practice, one short episode at a time, designed to help you establish the daily habit of prayer, reflection and spiritual nourishment that your brain and your soul were both created for.

365 episodes. One for every morning of the year.

It is a work in progress. Coming soon.

And when it arrives, my prayer is that it becomes the quiet anchor of your day, the thing you reach for before the noise begins.

Stay tuned for more details.

In the meantime, reply to this email with the word BRAIN and I will personally send you information about the free brain health resources available through Simple Smart Science.

Prospering with Purpose

You Were Called to Serve. Not to Struggle.

There is a question I have heard more times than I can count.

From coaches. From ministers. From people doing genuinely good work in the world.

"How do I keep saying yes to what God is calling me to do when the livelihood has not caught up with the calling?"

I know that question from personal experience.

I know what it feels like to try to fly the plane while you are still building it.

When the money isn't flowing and the expenses keep growing. When that quiet inner tension builds right alongside the mission. And every time God put something new in front of me, I found myself doing the math before I said yes.

That is not the freedom God intended for us.

A few years ago, an opportunity arrived in my life unexpectedly.

I have learned over the years that while pushing and striving will work, the easiest path is usually the one you didn't go looking for.

What I found required no selling, no major investment, and no time away from my primary mission.

It ran alongside everything I was already doing, my work, my spiritual life, my family commitments.

When I first saw it, I almost dismissed it.

I am glad I didn't.

What arrived that year was not just an income stream.

It was significant. A livelihood that actually funded my mission without competing with it.

For the first time, I could say yes to God without doing the math first.

It is now referred to as The Freedom Shift.

And I am creating a free video series to share it with the people I believe God has been preparing to receive it.

People who are already doing the work.

Who just need the income stream to fund their calling.

The videos are in production. But I want to ask you one question while you wait.

Where are you right now?

Are you comfortable but open to a simple income stream that funds your mission without building a business?

Are you doing work you love but the income does not reflect it, and you need something to change?

Are you called to something more but there is no clear path to get there yet?

If any of those describe you, The Freedom Shift was built for you.

When the videos are ready, you will be the first to know.

Stay close. Stay curious. Keep saying yes.

The livelihood is catching up with the calling.

More soon. 🌿
