I've had enough

Happy Sunday, Reader!

This week's Gospel gives us the image of Jesus as the Good Shepherd.

He doesn't promise us everything. He promises us enough - and then some.

Scripture of the Week

"I came so that they might have life and have it more abundantly."

— John 10:10

The Freedom Shift

I've had enough...

And yet, God continues to prosper me.

That realization came unexpectedly while I was watching an episode of The Chosen depicting the Last Supper.

In the scene, they recited a prayer I had never really paid attention to before, a litany of gratitude called Dayenu.

It means: “It would have been enough.”

At first, it sounded simple.

But the more I sat with it… the more profound it became.

We live in a world that constantly tells us that more is better.

More money. More success. More recognition.

And yet, this simple prayer invites us to see something completely different.

Not what’s missing, but what has already been given.

I don't need to run a multi-million dollar business, become a social media influencer, or be known as a famous person to live a prosperous life.

My life has been blessed. And this ancient prayer makes that abundantly clear.

Here is my version of Dayenu…with just the highlights:

It would have been enough to be born to loving parents and not have a large extended family.

It would have been enough to be in a loving family, and not marry my honey.

It would have been enough to be a wife, and not become a mother.

It would have been enough to have four sons, and not have a career.

It would have been enough to have a career, and not become an entrepreneur.

It would have been enough to have my own business, and not become a grandmother.

It would have been enough to be a grandmother, and not be called to ministry.

It would have been enough to serve God through church, and not write my newsletter.

It would have been enough to write Heavenly Treasures Weekly, and not discover new ways to grow and serve.

It would have been enough to keep growing, and not be fired up by the Holy Spirit.

And yet here I am. Every single one of those things, and more.

Prosperity isn't always measured in dollars. Sometimes it shows up as a life so full that when you stop long enough to actually look at it, you can hardly take it all in.

This is what enough looks like. And it turns out, enough is extraordinary.

A Great Question for You

Reader, what would your Dayenu look like?

Start with the very first gift - the one you might have taken for granted the longest. Then keep going. You may be surprised how prosperous your life already is.

Wellness Wisdom

Gratitude is one of the most researched and most underused tools in brain health.

Studies consistently show that a regular gratitude practice reduces cortisol, improves sleep, strengthens immune function and actually rewires the brain over time toward positive patterns of thinking.

But here's what the research can't fully explain.

There's something that happens when gratitude goes deeper than a list.

When it becomes a recognition that your life, the whole of it, including the hard parts, has been held and guided by something greater than yourself.

That's not just a mood shift. That's a transformation.

The Dayenu practice this week isn't just a spiritual exercise.

It's one of the most powerful things you can do for your brain and your body.

Write it out. Sit with it. Let it land.

Your nervous system will thank you.

Peace isn’t just a spiritual experience…It’s biological.

Prospering with Purpose

Psalm 23 is probably the most recognized passage in all of Scripture.

And the line most people know by heart is the very first one.

"The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want."

I shall not want.

Not "I shall have everything." Not "I shall never struggle." Not "I shall always have more."

I shall not want.

That is a prosperity statement. And it has nothing to do with our bank account.

For most of my life I was focused on building, accumulating and achieving the next thing. And there's nothing wrong with ambition when it comes from the right place.

But somewhere along the way I confused having more with feeling like enough.

They are not the same thing.

What I've come to understand is that true prosperity begins the moment you stop looking at what you don't have and start seeing clearly what you do.

The shepherd doesn't give the sheep everything imaginable.

He leads them to green pastures, still waters and safe paths. He provides what they need, when they need it.

That's been my experience too.

Not always what I wanted. But consistently what I needed.

And when I look back at the full picture of my life, the way the Dayenu invites you to do, I can see the Shepherd's hand in all of it.

Every provision. Every open door. Every unexpected blessing.

I shall not want.

It turns out, that's more than enough.

In Abundance,
Janet
